PROMISE:
Participative Research labOratory for Multimedia and Multilingual Information Systems Evaluation
DESCRIPTION:
PROMISE is a Network of Excellence co-funded by 7th Framework Program of the European Commission, starting in September 2010, and designed
to support and develop the evaluation of multilingual and multimedia information access systems, largely through the activities taking place in
Cross-Language Evaluation Forum (CLEF) today, and taking it forward in important new ways.
PROMISE is coordinated by the University of Padua, and involves 10 partners from 7 different countries.
The aim of PROMISE is to provide a virtual laboratory for conducting participative research and experimentation to carry out, advance and bring automation into the evaluation and benchmarking of complex information systems, by facilitating management and offering access, curation, preservation, re-use, analysis, visualization, and mining of the collected experimental data.
PROMISE wants to:
- foster the adoption of regular experimental evaluation activities;
- bring automation into the experimental evaluation process;
- promote collaboration and re-use over the acquired knowledge-base;
- stimulate knowledge transfer and uptake.
CELCT’S ROLE:
CELCT is responsible for the development of the dedicated website that provides:
- project overviews and highlights;
- RSS-enabled news;
- up-to-date information on intermediate and final project results and the related publications;
- links to bibliographic social networks such as BibSonomy or Citulike, to announce project events, like workshops and seminars;
- private area for the members to facilitate the exchange of documents and information in the consortium;
CELCT is responsible also for the editing of the annual PROMISE conference proceedings and for the organization of a "Technology Transfer Day".
